Formal Parlor
Today, this room would be much like a formal living room, always kept neat and ready for guests and entertaining. During 2004 and 2005 this and four additional rooms were restored to the 1898 period historic wallpaper was installed; appropriate Brussels carpet and period canvas ceilings were installed. Kerosene lamps provided the lighting and while the original fixtures have been electrified, the low wattage bulbs simulate the appearance during the period.

Most of the furnishings of this room are original to the Magoffin family; the site has gone to great lengths to fill in any gaps with items from personal collections and decorative items that truly represent life in the home in 1898.

The piano is a Knabe square grand, and was purchased for Mrs. Magoffin. It was shipped from Balitmore by train and arrived on one of the first trains to reach El Paso 1881.
